U-Visa Certification

U-Visa Certification is an official document issued by the police, prosecutor’s office or a judge that confirms the existence of a crime and the victim’s cooperation with the authorities. This document is mandatory to apply for the U-Visa and is valid for six months. It allows direct or indirect victims, with or without immigration status, to access immigration protection when they have collaborated in a relevant and legal criminal investigation in force.

Who can apply?
  • Direct or indirect victims of crime, who have documents or who do not have them. For example, if the victim is a minor, born in the United States, their undocumented parents can apply and benefit from the protection of the U Visa.
  1. Police report and/or copy of the file of the Prosecutor’s Office and/or Court.
  2. The necessary documentation and/or evidence will depend on the type of personal case of each individual.
